On April 16, Fuad Nağıyev, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency (DTA), held a public reception in Sheki, focusing on the "Upper Head" National Historical and Architectural Reserve and the "Kish" Historical and Architectural Reserve. During the meeting, local residents had their questions answered, their opinions heard, and received relevant instructions.
The reception highlighted the efforts of the State Tourism Agency in organizing the protection of world-class and locally significant historical and architectural monuments within the reserve. It was noted that several monuments have been restored, and reconstruction work is ongoing for others.
Fuad Nağıyev, alongside Elxan Usubov, the Head of Sheki City Executive Power, toured the restored monuments within the reserve. Currently, the reserve encompasses 83 state-registered historical, architectural, archaeological, park-monumental sites, mosques, merchant properties, water pipelines, and water mills. In 2021, 58 buildings in the historical part of Sheki were granted "monument" status and placed under state protection.
In 2022, the State Tourism Agency restored two 19th-century buildings within the Qala walls—the Art Gallery and the administrative building of the reserve—in traditional Sheki architectural style, preserving their original appearance. Restoration work continues on some historical buildings within the Qala walls.
Additionally, restoration work is underway on the facade of the Circular Temple, built in a style similar to ancient Caucasian Albanian temples of the early 19th century, as well as on the network workshop and the building housing the History and Local History Museum. The interior of the Kish Albanian Temple in Sheki has also been renovated.
