The Reserves Management Center is a Public Legal Entity established under the State Tourism Agency by the decree number 417 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on December 20th, 2018.
The Reserves Management Center aims to implement conservation measures to protect the tangible and intangible heritage assets of its reserves, efficient administrative and financial management, develop its tourism potential, revitalize the economy via integrating the local population into the tourism and heritage value-chains, as well as to invest in capacity building, education and training in particular for public/private stakeholders and the young generations.
- The Reserves Management Center is responsible for the following Reserves and Cultural institutions :
- “Yanar dag” State Historical – Cultural and Nature Reserve
- “Ateshgah Temple” State Historical – Architectural Reserve
- “Basqal” State Historical - Cultural Reserve and House of Culture
- “Khinaliq” State Historical, Architectural, and Ethnographic Reserve
- “Lahij” State Historical and Cultural Reserve and Lahij History and Ethnography Museum
- “Yukhari Bash” State Historical and Architectural Reserve, including Sheki History and Ethnography Museum, Sheki Museum of Applied Arts and Sheki State Art Gallery
- “Kish” Historical and Architectural Reserve
- "Beshbarmag" Mountain State Historical-Cultural and Nature Reserve
- "Tugh" State Historical-Architectural and Nature Reserve
The objectives of the center are :
- Protection of cultural heritage, including historical and cultural monuments in the reserves;
- Studying the monuments from historical and cultural perspectives and ensuring their inviolability while maintaining the established regime for the territory of the reserves;
- Ensuring tourism-oriented use of reserves;
- Managing of reserves at the expense of their own income and promotion of diversification of income generation sources;
- Ensuring sustainable management in reserves.
The Reserve Management Center:
- participates in the implementation of a unified state policy in the field of reserves;
- organizes planning, control and coordination of activities in the field of reserves;
- studies the monuments located in the territories of the reserves from the scientific, historical and cultural point of view, organizes their purposeful use;
- ensures the preservation and inviolability of monuments located in the territories of reserves;
- organizes the building and management of tourism infrastructure in the territories of reserves.
